Best HIV Counselling – Dr. P.K. Gupta

HIV and AIDS counseling was introduced both in the early days of the epidemic and continues to be important today. This is because HIV and AIDS are still problems that are to be tackled effectively by individual behavior change. HIV Counselling steps in when there is an inability to cope with certain personal situations, or in the case of individuals who struggle with lifestyles that are not conducive to achieving total health, focusing on effective HIV counseling doctors.

HIV and AIDS counseling is one way to prevent the spread of HIV. Counselling also helps those that are affected by HIV/AIDS (individuals, family members, friends, etc.) deal with the diagnosis.

Although the primary aim of HIV and AIDS counseling is the prevention of HIV transmission, all the principles and practices described in this book are also applicable to both those who are already infected with the infection and those who have known risk factors but remain untested.

What is HIV Counselling?

Have you ever wondered what HIV counseling is? If you are a person living with HIV / AIDS, HIV counseling is a way to help you cope with the challenges of everyday life. People who know they are infected with HIV need emotional support and information while they adjust to their new situation. Counseling can be provided by trained counselors or care partners who can help you understand your test results, increase confidence in dealing with your diagnosis, and provide emotional support and information on accessing medical and social services.

There are two types of HIV Counselling Treatment

Pre-test discussion

The implications of HIV antibody testing should be discussed before the test takes place. This will ensure that the patient is given all the information they need in order to make an informed choice about having the test done. It may also give them time to think about their own position and concerns if they wish to take the test. The discussion can be taken as an opportunity to explore and clarify any anxieties or concerns, and to provide adequate information before the test is taken and get contact to top sexologist in Delhi.

Post-test discussion

HIV result disclosure is done once the test is returned and results are available. This can be done by the counselor or a member of the staff nurses. It is important that the patient knows that counseling remains available even if they do not return for their results. HIV test counseling aims to provide patients with a choice to request pre-test information and/or an HIV test.
